What Is WCBS - FM? Overview: A Not For Profit Community Radio Station Serving Walsall In The Black Country Part of Walsall Independent Broadcasting Ltd. Vision: To provide a professional full Radio Service for Walsall To raise the profile of Walsall and to generate confidence in it as a good place to live, work and to invest in. To work with and promote the Walsall Borough Strategic Partnership and the Regeneration Company in their vision for a better, stronger Walsall Borough as a whole. To help in the aspirations of, and to make a real and lasting difference to the economy of, the people of Walsall. Priorities: To involve a minimum of 300 volunteers, or more, if the take up is sufficient, over the five year period of the licence. To employ at least 25% of staff from the disabled and challenged over the period of the licence. Thus helping the area’s job market regeneration. To help in the training / up-skilling of staff and increase the capabilities of the disabled and disadvantaged in all areas of work, not just in Radio. To try and bring people in these groups up to level 2/3 increasing their eligibility for work to the business community, creating further job opportunities. To work to enable Walsall Council to make Walsall a town of excellence thus showing by their investing in the people of Walsall. W. M. B. C’s image as one of excellence. Things we will do first: To have commitment to help local community groups raise their profile and in partnering with these groups raise funds in cash or kind. To give small local businesses an opportunity to use the media of local community radio, to highlight their business or service. which would normally be cost prohibitive on commercial radio within the black country. To partner with local Education and training providers to provide; in addition to the station’s own training schemes, a service to direct to other training and educational opportunities within the borough.
